Have you ever had to a do a procedure which you’ve not done for some time? For many rural doctors, dealing with critical illness is an infrequent event – but we need to be on our game when it happens.
Of course we’ve learned these procedures before…but at 3am it’s nice to get a quick refresher of key stages and a mental model of what to do.
Just a Minute Instant Tutorials
Hence the Just A Minute Instant Tutorials or JAMIT series – short one minute refresher videos for use on your smartphone, tablet or laptop, either streamed or downloadable. An idea from the usual suspects (Casey, Minh, myself) and which will be taken up by ACRRM – the peak professional body for rural doctors in Australia.
If you like the idea, why not make one yourself? ACRRM will be running a competition prior to RMA2013 and showcasing there.
THESE VIDEOS ARE NOT DESIGNED TO REPLACE PROPER TRAINING, KNOWLEDGE AND PRACTICE. THEY ARE REFRESHERS OF ESSENTIAL INFO TO BE USED WHEN TIME-LIMITED AS AN ADJUNCT.
This is FOAMed – free, open-access medical education to benefit us all….here are some examples.
